I need to replace the battery in my 62 E.
I’ve had an Interstate MT-grp26R at 525cca standard flooded battery in it and would like to go to an AGM battery.
It’s not a mega amp battery and it’s worked quite well so that’s not a requirement.
Not concerned with looks, just fit and weight. Smaller and lighter preferred.
Searched but don’t see anything current on type and size.
Any AGM battery recommendations in the USA?
Thanks.

#2 Re: AGM Battery Choice
I’ve had Odyssey PC1200s in both my cars for some years and they perform flawlessly, even in cold, damp British winters. I keep them conditioned with a Ctek mxs5.0. Much smaller footprint and they pack more cold cranking amps punch than the lead acids.
I understand they are manufactured in Missouri USA and Newport, Wales.
I know other owners have had good experiences with other batteries so I think you’ll get a few more useful recommendations.

Optima red top. The die when un-loaded to deep, but when they are treated nicely, they deliver an enormous current.

Had a red top before this Mt26r Interstate. Guess i let it go too far. Died and wouldn’t come back.
Huh, both these batteries are big and heavy, thoght i could find a smaller lighter AGM that would do the job?

Yeah I agree, not so light. Got a U1R Miata battery for my Sprite and very small but not so light.
A little smaller but close in size to the MT26R is a Xcess power S925, 6.255"L x 6.93w x 4.92h @26lbs.
550CA/no CCA spec (about 20% less per retailer so 440?) so less than the MT 26R but retailer says the AGM will outperform a flooded Lead -Acid. Is that true?
Enough to reliably spin the XK?
I am in central CA so no a cold climate.
