I’m just about to fit the 2 chromed pieces for the number plate surround on my newly repainted car.
I’m anxious not to damage the fine paintwork by just pushing them on. They don’t seem to have any clips ( other than the cover clip where the 2 pieces join.
Any tips on how to fix these without chipping the paint ?
Thanks
Tim

#2 Re: Fitting rear number plate surround
Well, there seemed no easy way around this so armed with a soft hammer and a gulp of courage I presented these to the car.
Luckily I kept the original but slightly damaged items. This showed that the repro items were different at the lower edges so a little trimming was needed. No real issue.
I wouldn’t say that they went on easily but on they are on and look fine. Next job is to fit the reversing lamp which should be easy (!) and then the bumpers. These will have new chrome against the new paint and should be a massive step but I’m more than concerned about scratching the paint. Plenty of masking needed I think.
