My wipers work very poorly.
What is the best arm and refill for the early S1 wipers?
I see the Tex with the screw fastener, “standard” arms, and uprated arms.
Refills also seem to have different levels. Prices vary wildly for the different options.
Anyone recommend the best setup and who to buy from??
(My motor works fine although i do like that “pulse” setup in another post. I live by the coast and a misty fog is often the cause of a frequent reach to the panel switch.)

Layne, look at post 6: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=17782
Halfords is a motor factor, I’m sure you can look locally for softer blades.
RainX is good, especially at speed.
Yes, get do the upgrade to intermittent wipers, definite improvement.
I have the screw attached arms from Barratt’s and softer blades. If you’ve got original parts fitting softer blades into them may be a good way to go.

In checking the wipers on my S1 FHC which are of the 'curved' type which pivot in the center but instead of the spring holding them in the curved position it is the opposite, the spring strives to hold them straight. This means they will never follow the curvature of the windscreen. Have I got it wrong?

So the screw retainer type work well for you. Checked Halfords quickly but didn’t see an obvious refill. Hafta spend some more time there. Can’t find refills locally that are any good. All from suppliers, like to put my hands on them before i buy, the ones I’ve ordered did not work out.
Yes, I’d say if the springs are pulling yhe blade straight its a problem, particularly on the drivers side.
Also must make sure you arms are proper for a left or right hand drive car. Angle is different.
