I’ve now put 7,000 miles on the Etype rebuild in the last 9 months
Most know the repro parts with few exceptions from
Some of our favorite suppliers are terrible
My NEW master from SNG is fine but the rod is not the correct size
I now purchased NOS, other repo and custom willwood.
My original was never in the car so this is what I have.
The repro that came with the master is too short.
The 4.2 might work as it is 1 1/2 inches longer BUT the bracket opening is too tight.
My brakes are fine but the pedal
Is to low and there is that annoying play!!!

Okay original rod on right is 3 1/2 inches from center feel hole to end of pin and so on
The 5 inch rod supposedly for 4.2 only the gap is too small to fit over the brake pedal arm
Any thoughts?

I would suggest that you pick out whichever rod has the correct forks for your system and take it down to a machine shop and have them make up a rod of whatever length you have decided is correct. Or even better befriend a neighbor with a lathe in his garage!

Some 4.2s have an adjustable length rod which is probably the best solution, because often one finds that the rod is not long enough to push the piston fully back in the cylinder, as a result of which no amount of bleeding will eliminate all air from the system . The adjustment is facilitated by making a sleeve of perhaps 1inch /25mm long tapped all through to the same major diameter as the rod, and then cutting the rod in two and threading with a die so that both cut ends can be screwed into the sleeve to achieve the desired length, which is secured by locknuts at each end of the sleeve

I found an original rod in my parts bin
Adjusted the pedal box and it’s a lot better.
The original was about a half inch longer than the repro
