Hi All, we’ve been fitting the rad and associated bits today and can’t work out how the aluminium plate (item 25 on enclosed diagram) fits. I had assumed that it fitted under the radiator, between the rad and the bottom bar on the bonnet frame. This bar has 2 big holes that the two big studs in the radiator bottom fit in through, but there are no equivalent holes in the aluminium plate. So I’m confused as to where the plate fits

There are 3 P clips at the front and two U brackets at the rear.

The pictures in the parts catalogue are usually more detailed.

As the drg from abowie shows it fits in front of the Rad. The side next to the rad bolts to the U shaped brackets under the radiator and the front attaches to a bracket which attaches to the tube in front of it.

The purpose of the shield is to continue to provide a continuous tunnel for the air intake to the radiator from the bonnet nose.

Thanks yes that looks like my rad (Radtec Marston copy). The bigger issue we’ve now come across though is that the Radtec is soooo tight in the space due to one of the vertical bonnet panels that sits beside the rad being incorrectly profiled. This has now become a lot more complex than just unbolting the old rad and bolting in the new

Incorrectly profiled by whom-the factory or your paint/body guy?

If the original fit the Radtec replacement should-yes?

Presumably by the guy who restored the car 8 years ago and who built the new bonnet. You can see that the profile of the left hand vertical panel is correctly curved to house the rad but the right side is straighter. We’ve got the rad to fit but it has required panel beating to amend the right panel. There was quite a large thickness of filler on the panel, which is perfectly rust free so quite why they stuck so much filler on it is bizarre. So we’ll need to do some repairs and paint which will further delay me getting to drive it
