Hi Chaps, I was wondering whether anyone has fitted the new SNG supplied Girling shocks and springs and can tell me how they ride. As importantly to me, what is the ride height like? I saw a post after searching but the car looked to be riding too high to me, but it may have been dry and may not have been driven after fitting them. I would appreciate any photos of cars with them fitted. Ride height on E types is one of my bug bears. Its just not right if its isn't right! thanks Andrew

I fitted Girlings recently but can’t tell you how they ride as the car hasn’t moved since. I’ve got a couple of pics that might give a clue on ride height (maybe I’m the one you consider too high?). Hopefully the car will be finished in the next month and i can give them a try

Repro springs are always too high it seems to me...

Thank you , in fact it was your car that looked too high to me, but that was another photograph. This photo looks more like it, perhaps they have settled since you fitted them? I restored a US series One and powder coated the original springs and it sat just perfectly. Why reproduction cannot get it right is beyond me. Everyone seems to make stiffer and think that is better. Stiffer by definition means they will sit up higher with same body weight. Anyway perhaps someone is actually running these??

Here’s what it looked like before changing to Girlings - at this ride height the exhaust was scrap. I would expect the current height to settle a bit after use.

The "before" picture of the maroon car definitely looks too low to me . Most springs sag with age, and I think the result is that we have come to see cars with such springs as the norm, and therefore( incorrectly ) regard new springs as being wrong

The springs on the maroon car were less than 18months old when the photo was taken and bought from SNGB as standard rate/length, so I reckon they’re not always made to original spec.

As an aside they should have spacers in 3.8 cars which lifts the ride

I used the SNg total set up.
Our cars are 55 years old.
When first installed without gas you thought I purchased a Chevy 4 x4 blazer !
Now 1 years later and 8,000 glorious miles it sits puuuuurfect!

She looks good. I reckon pretty much like factory spec. Thanks for the reply
