Hello,

Does anyone have experience with this.I would like to shorten the flanks of the replica header tank to the size of the original item. Is there a risk of container leaking as a result ?
Thank you for thoughts.

John

Hi John

That would depend where the spot welds were put….which no one but the maker will know am afraid…..

If you don’t mind none originality buy this….they are very elegant….and a few of the guys on the forum here would agree…me included

The CambridgeMotorsport tank is indeed beautiful and well made. Do remember to specify the type of fan switch you are using. I did not do this and ended up with a tank that uses an aftermarket switch. Cambridge was willing to swap tanks, but paying international shipping twice more didn't make sense to me. The new design switch works fine, but crowds the fan shroud, and required wiring mods to fit it.

Yes. The CambridgeMotorsport tank looks excellent. I prefer to keep the car as original as possible.

Once you remove an original part and replace it with a pattern reproduction the car is no longer original or “maintained as original”. It’s more like somewhat original. Or sort of original, except for the parts that aren’t, but it’s within the spirit of original, from my perspective, if you don’t look too closely.

I maintain mine to drive, so beautiful after market parts that perform as well as or better than new suit me fine. I do try to keep any mods as “bolt ins” so some later owner can return the car to that somewhat/sort of state of originality if they so choose.
