#1 Proper Interior Location for Cooling Fan Switch?

Post by Dad » Thu Dec 01, 2022 8:39 pm

Hi

I'd like to add an auxiliary cooling fan switch to the interior of my 1966 s1 FHC 4.2 (for a Kenlowe fan I added). I bought a nice-looking switch mount from Moss (although may be replacing the fake dymo label with a real one) and have done a fair bit of research as to where it should be mounted, to no avail. I appreciate the answer could be 'nowhere - it's not supposed to have one' from the purists. I get that, and this is 'non-destructive' and reversible.

But if one were to have mounted an auxiliary switch in this car back in the 60s, where would it have been placed?

Thanks,

Dad

When I originally purchased my car. it came with such a switch which was installed on the right next to the high beam toggle, they actually drilled the dash for the switch.....it of course has gone now and restored to stock no switch.

I mounted a fan temp sensor over-ride switch on the under dash trim on left under dash. Similar position to the odo reset but on other side of column.Simple black stock toggle to the relay. Easy to reach, plenty of space. No bracket, no label, just a hole in the trim piece with a black toggle, plenty of room up there.

You don’t need to see something like that, you know it’s there.
LHD car.

If you want a label, this one and others are on Ebay to fit the Lucas switch. I put a warning light next to the manual over-ride rad fan switch. This is the radio blank in my Sprite radio console.
