I‘ve seen pictures of E-Types with the ignition key to the left of the cigar lighter, as well as to the right. Might some be of MK2 origin? Which is the correct side for the ingnition key? I hope it‘s not as simple as lhd/rhd?

My ignition switch is on the left, as in your second picture.

So thanks Richard, thanks Steve. Obviously I‘ve never taken notice of the key side change! I‘ll be on the lookout. I’ll see if I can spot this on a local sales offer of a (converted) RHD FHC.

Seems you are both right. This picture shows a RHD car, with the key on the right. I know this (US) car has been converted lhd to rhd.

Hi Martin
I think it is as simple as LHD vs RHD.
If you look in the owner's manual it shows RHD cars with the ignition switch to the left of the cigar lighter and LHD cars with it to the right of the cigar lighter. At least, that's the case with series 1 cars.
It could well be that some cars haven't had their dash panel layout fully converted when being converted for drive side.
Regards
Stuart

The switch order is different for LHD and RHD cars as can be seen from the indicator strip parts C.15609 (RHD) and C.15610 (LHD):
LHD
RHD
A poorly converted car will have the traffic indicator stalk on the wrong side and the wipers parked on the wrong side.

I was aware of these points, the key in the panel being handed left - right, was new to me. Of course, I have a S2 and only driven one S1 so I never noticed! Thanks for replies.
