Hi all, does anyone know if these seatbelt mounts are original and if so what year would they have been fitted.
Many thanks

Original I think. Does your car have othe other mounting points in the side of the prop shaft tunnel & towards the rear of the quarter vent base? Fitted from sometime in '63, mandatory from '64 onwards.

Hi Randall, no it doesn't have the mounting points on the tunnel. The outer points are similar to these ones, on the floors.

David, the mounting points appear to be original but are obviously different to later types. I wondered if they were factory or fitted by the original dealer as were footwells to some early cars.

What model is it? My 64 fhc has all the correct mounting points as per the sb's.

Randall, its a very early flat floor fhc which I have been trying to gather information about for a long time to gain registration.

Interesting that it has the mounting points in the floors, possibly had floors replaced but they certainly look factory. Does it have a body no. tag?

No Randall, it doesn't, hence the original question. I've previously posted pictures and asked for info on this car but still keep finding little odd details that keep me thinking. Some details made it seem like a 61 car but others 62. Never seen seatbelt points like these though. I have been working on the mechanical side but havent had time for the shell untill now and don't want to go too far without more info.

Derek the seat rail mounting points could also tell you something, the earlier ones had shorter rails thus the mounts were closer together. Check out Maikel Lemke's videos on original E-types.

Don't know if this helps, my November 1961 OTS had seatbelt mounting points on the tunnel and on the floor by the outer sill. It was only fitted with lap belts when got it. Things changed quickly with these early cars so you can never be sure from one week to another what was standard fit.
I fitted brackets inside the boot so I could have 3 point seatbelts.

Hi Randall, you were right, the seat mounting points are closer together for shorter rails. Thanks for the tip, unfortunately the car didn't come with the early seat rails.
Hi Dave, interesting that your car had the belt mounts in Nov 61. I hope that means my shell is earlier than that but who knows. Thanks for the info.

My early 62, Oct/Nov 61 I think production, flat floor, LHD, No Seat Belt mounts.
Appears to conform with info posted by Heuer.
