And almost every single piece of rubber on the side of the car confuses me. I've spent some time on it now, hard to find topic, and opinions often include two opposite directions...

1. cantrail and lower a-post. Most important since lower a-post must be glued in before door goes on, right? In my SPC there's a single rubber for entire cantrail, BD20500/2 and a seperate for lower a-post, BD25308. But my trusty parts vendor sends me BD20500/4 for rear part of cantrail and BD25716/BD25717 for front part of cantrail and lower a-post. As is seen in 4.2 SPC. Is that what I should use?
2. rear part of cantrail, BD20500/4, should the highest part be on the outside or inside of the curve?
3. front part of cantrail and lower a-post, I've turned it around many times, can't see how that thick triangle part in the middle must sit? And there's a hole in the body right there, is there some part I'm missing? Some retainer?
4. b-post rubber, should bigger lip face backwards or?
5. Rubber and chrome on sill, have no idea how it should attach...?
6. Rubber on chrome window frame, outside, lip in to center of car or out?

Some people have already made an effort to help me with this, but the answer often ends up being "what fits best". Don't we have any material covering this topic?

My experience would be that if you take the trouble to publish some pictures of the areas concerned, and some sketches of the cross-sections you're referring to, you will get a lot more help from Forum users.

Words don't encourage comprehension and interest as much as images, and there is so much room for misinterpretation of both the questions and the answers.

The work you put in to your part of the bargain will be rewarded several times over.

Hi Mikael.....as Rory said above you've posted lots of Info with part numbets etc...its a lot for anyone to remember or look up....break it down into smaller sections with photos as Rory suggested.....also the forum has a huge amount of info.....have you looked all through the factory fit section 3.8......and the restoration section there are some long threads with lots of detail on others restorations....Steve

First, let me say I don't ask stuff in here before having tried my 10 books+google+original pictures in factory fit section+local owners+cars near mine on xkedata.

Secondly, I have broken it up as Steve suggests. I've made 6 specific questions, clearly, not just buried in my text. That way anybody that may have an answer on one or more of the 6 questions can chime in. Perhaps I'm too structured?!

Thirdly, pictures. If someone looks through my previous questions, and there's been plenty, and I've gotten a lot of help, most have pictures. I can take pictures... However on these questions, I didn't see the point, the parts and the bare car without rubber installed look the same on all FHCs I think. But if someone would take a picture of their rubber installed it would help me. But of course, e.g. a simple "outside" or "inside" answer to question 2 would help me along

Now that I've tried to answer Rory and Steve, I'm not interested in any more comments on how I should post, I'm interested if anybody wants to help with one or more of my questions please...

What does this mean? BD20500/4 is the quarterlight seal not the can't rail.....I really dont know what your asking
