Hi everyone, new to this forum, just got myself a 3.8 Fhc, got a couple of little things to sort out, firstly the handbrake warning light, it doesn’t work!. Can someone enlighten me how to got the unit out, I have dropped the lower dash section but I can’t seem to figure out how it pushes forward through the dash. Secondly how does the lamp and spring go in, is it spring lamp jewel screw cover or lamp spring jewel cover, the lamp is all ok and it’s a screw fitment.
Many thanks Arnold

Hi Arnold, and welcome.

Your light should look like this

If so, then you unscrew the chrome bezel on the front (note the 2 slots) then the jewel lens , bulb, etc. should come out.

You might want to get or make a tool for removing the chrome bezel - all the switches have the same type of fixing method.

Regards

Thanks Stuart I have no problem getting the lamp out, it’s getting the whole fitting out and I wasn’t sure how the lamp went in with the spring

Thanks

Slightly off the point, but what is the purpose of the spring under the lens? I sort of assumed it is a test for the bulb function, by pushing the lens, but although the lamp works on my car pushing the lens does nothing. Is it just in there to keep things tight?

That was one of my questions, should the spring go between the lamp and jewel lens? Can’t find a drawing anywhere

Lots of info here...took minutes to search...and no you don't press the red lens to test the bulb....Steve https://forums.jag-lovers.com/t/handbra ... ght/397177
