Fortuitously I took the spare tyre out of the boot and noticed a previous restorer had fitted a Holley fuel pump against the year wall and it looks like it has/had a leak. I am replacing this with an electronic SU pump and wanted to know if the correct fitting procedure is the same as outlined in a post several years ago for a S1 4.2 pump. In situ photos would be very helpful. Many thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply. I can only assume the Holley was used to replace an original Lucas in tank pump for improved reliability. That said the technical gurus in the club I belong to favour installing an SU pump. Personally I just want reliability over originality. Will discuss with them about the re engineered Lucas. (Personally I prefer getting parts from Martin Robey as I have found their advice generally to be very good)

There's no reason you couldn't fit an AZX1308 SU pump like the one in a 4.2 if you preferred. Note that they are polarity sensitive.

They are rubber mounted to a bracket that is welded to the inside of the right rear wheel arch, under the trim panel in the boot.

The only problem you might face is fitting of that bracket.

The manufacturers of the repro in tank pumps had some problems with the cable gland leaking when they first offered the pump. They claim to have fixed this.
