Just took delivery of a new vac tank from one of the usuals. It appears to be full of rust which has spilled out during transit.

Has anyone else had a similar problem.

Have you spoken to them and complained? If so what response?

Yes, the supplier couldn't understand it. I'd have thought this must be a process issue rather than storage. It's come from within the tank rather than sitting in water in the warehouse.

How bad was the rust, Al?

Could it have possibly come from some re-used packing materials that it was shipped out in, perhaps?

Or was it an old item that had been repaired and refurbished?

If it was pieces of flaky rust then it can't possibly be a new reproduction item unless it had been stored outdoors and unprotected. Very strange.

Regards

Outside of the tank was perfect. It looked as though water had got into the tank and stood there for a while. Then during transit it spilt out and dried on the outside surface around the connection point. Looking into the tank flange, you could clearly see that's where it came from. Condensation possibly!
