#1 Exterior door chrome trim

Could someone shed some light on how the chrome side trim is fixed to the outside of the door. This is the strip which goes front to back.

I've new doors, no holes but the original trim strip does have holes (either end) for what looks to be fixing pegs. The rear wing short trims are fixed with pegs.

Many thanks

Al

Al, before you go ahead and fix those door chromes have a look at Angus Moss’s website, or phone him
https://www.mossjaguar.com/index.html

On a recent visit to his open day there was a 2+2 with no door chrome and it looked so nice.
It may be a standard item but without it the doors and lines looked so much nicer. Maybe there’s a photo on his website or he could get one for you from the owner.

An option to consider.

Geoff

Thanks for the link Geoff.

I see what you mean about the uncluttered curves. Decisions, decisions - that's one for me to ponder over and at the moment I'd be inclined to leave them off.

For clarity though, are these strips pinned, screwed or stuck in place.

Many thanks

If there are any pictures of the 2+2 mentioned above, they would be interesting to see.

I believe the owner does visit the forum. Sadly I’ve forgotten his user name so can’t ping him a pm.
Let’s hope Angus can find a photo to post or will contact the owner to do that.

It is my car with Angus, well remembered Geoff.

I only have a few pics that show the car without the door chrome but hope they give a good idea. It was Angus who mentioned it originally and we both think it looks good. I have the original strips but I can’t see them going back on the car under my ownership.

Happy to share any more pics or can take specific ones of the door next time I see Angus.

Ollie, thanks for posting these photos. Hopefully Alun and others can now consider it as an option. I certainly like it.

Thanks Ollie and Geoff, very interesting. It certainly gives the body curve more definition and does look great.

I like that.

I'll be welding up the holes on the rear wings next week.

Another benefit is a few less holes for potential water ingress.

It does look better, in my opinion too.

Maybe make a template to keep in reserve in case somebody later wants to reinstate the trim?
