Moved on to sorting out my doors today. One issue is that whilst the car came with an ignition key that also seems to operate the passenger door lock, the lock on the drivers side has a different key. I've pulled the lock out and found the key code so now I have a choice - order a new lock set so that both doors use the same key, or order a key for the old lock.
One issue that the driver's side lock has is that it just spins in the door hole when you turn the key - it doesn't seem to grip the door. Looking from the inside there are two metal tabs that anchor it, but they don't grip the door. Am I missing something? What is suppose to fit the lock to the door to prevent it spinning?

There are flats on both, hopefully the flat on the lock has worn round and not the door.
Time for new locks i think.

Edit, could also be that the clip is not located correctly, this pulls the lock against the door panel.

That's what they look like inside ( apart from the score of the lock turning ), what you can't see in the picture is only visible with the lock removed, you will see then that the door and the lock have matching flats, or in your case worn ones.
Edit, you do have the gasket on the outside between lock and door?, if not this could explain the wear as the spring clip is not gripping.

So.... No, there is no gasket on the outside, which might be preventing the clip gripping the door.

I recall that on my 2+2 ( now sold) it was fitted with replacement door skins. These came without the holes punched for door locks !
It was a bit tricky cutting the holes for locks . These ended up round without flats. I ended up shaping a thin plate with flats to fit around the lock and secured that on the inside of the skin with araldite.

Thanks for the tips. Interested if anyone has any pics of what it should look like...
Passenger side seems OK, so when I get my wheels back and can get it out the garage, I'll take a look at that side. Will also order new locks.

New locks seem to grip better with no modification needed - may just have been the missing gasket that made the difference. All sorted.
