Quarter light & door channel that hold the seeling rubber

I've purchased the quarterlight and door channels that hold the window sealing rubber in place. My etype build date was in August of 62. The channels come in too peises would it be better to only fit the quarterlight channels and glue the door sealing rubber directly to the body If so does anyone know what glue should be used?.
