The 'E' Type Forum

Mine is on the right, a friend gave me the one on the left. I think I can move the white plastic thing from left to right, and then use it. But when I started taking the one on the left apart, springs etc. jumped out.

Does anybody have instructions or a drawing of this, to help me get one working turn signal mechnism?

If you google servicing the e type series 1 turn signal switch, there is an excellent artical on yumpu that describes the process of stripping down and rebuilding, there are a lot of pop up adverts on the site but you can work around them, I did mine, replaced the white plastic bit and the chrome lever, the great thing is I retained my original switch that was date stamped Jan 65 by lucas.

PierreW, I didn't find it. I got an unused mechanism, which I plan to take it from.

Thanks Iansparky, just what I needed. never heard of Yumpu before.

Tried googling blinker, flasher, direction etc., but signal was best :-)

They have been for sale by the usuals on and off.

Thanks, now built two defect ones into one functioning one. Quite lucky, not a single part was missing on both, so it was doable

I'm just attempting to rebuild mine, one arm of the white nylon piece being broken.

As mentioned in the yumpu link, it is essential to take care of the tiny springs (there are four of them).
I lost one, fortunateley the biggest one, and easiest to replace by cutting/using a spring from a usual ball-point pen.

Iansparky: same question as Pierre but about the chrome lever: where did you find it?
I am desesperately searching for one, and the only solution seems to be buy the hole mechanism, at a price
