The (looks original) windscreen on my S1 2+2 has a chip and crack forming right in the driver's eyeline and needs replacing. I am hoping to claim on my windscreen insurance with Adrian Flux - apaprently they use autowindscreens for installs.
I was planning on pre-ordering the seals to prevent any issues on the day. Looking at MR there seem to be two seals - one main one, and another one that is sold by the meter? Do I need both, and if so does anyone know the correct length for the second one?

Try talking (or looking at) COH Baines, they make just about all the rubber seals for the E Type (that the usuals then sell on) and will sell you them by the metre rather than buying a fixed length from the usuals. That way you’ll have spare to save any worries.

Based on my experience, you need both. The main seal comes (from COH Baines) to a set length with the ends welded/glued together which is what you need to prevent leaks.
The second seal is the locking strip which is sold by the meter. Here you need to make sure you have enough because you want your windscreen fitter to use as much as possible. If it is stretched out during fitting it will, over time, shrink back and leave an unsightly gap where the ends should meet.

Thanks. Response from COH Baines for future reference:
"We’ve got the Series 1 2+2 front seal listed at ESJ123.
https://coh-baines.co.uk/products/e-typ ... ber-esj123
It looks like you will need 4m of filler strip with that as it’s 3500mm long; we sell that by the metre either in black (the same material as the windscreen:
https://coh-baines.co.uk/products/fille ... black-lf1b
Or in Chrome:
https://coh-baines.co.uk/products/fille ... hrome-pt02"
I might be missing something, but I am not sure I see the point in the chrome filler strip - it looks like it is covered by the upper, lower and pillar finishers anyway?

Those filler strips are generic to a number of older British cars, some of which did not have a chrome finisher but used the chromed filler strip e.g. early Mini's.
