Chrome windscreen pillar cover strip

My chrome cover strip which runs up the wind screen pillar is coming away from the rubber at the boot shaped end of the chrome cover strip. Are these glued on and if so with what glue.

they are glued. I use SIKAFLEX (if you ask for that at a car paint shop they will be able to provide either that or an equivalent). Designed to glue car panels on. Great stuff.

Sorry to be daft, but do you have a Sikaflex number (ie, 221,255fc,512 etc)

No, it was black.... Thats all I know. The other stuff I used was called Tiger Seal.

Hi Tony,
Yes it is black and expensive.
I used it twice for my windscreen and then it went solid.

How do you keep it moist?

To get a bit more out of it for a repair job later I went at it with a screwdiver and hammer!
Now it is in the bin.

When You have finished with the Sikaflex push a large rivet in the end.

This will stop it from going off .

Tony : the chap at the chandlers at the north end of West Kirby marine lake sells sikkaflex . I bought mine from him - it was not 221 but a later similar replacement. I will try and look out my tube and let you know - from recollection it was something like 269 0r 291

I ended up buying some Tiger Seal and glued it back just before I read your e-mail today. I will let you know if it works when it dries.
