Hi all

Whilst I was at CMC recently, I spotted a great looking mid metallic blue FHC with D type wheels, air con etc etc. I was told the owner had spent a huge sum on it.

What intrigued me was that the seats had been replaced with period seats that suited the car but these seats had height adjustable head rests (not series 3 seats). They were not out of keeping with the car and had been trimmed to match the rest of the interior.

I forgot to ask who made these seats - just curious - any ideas?

Have never seen them on any other e type. :?

Interesting, I've seen a few modern seats that look good in E-type's they seem to be like smaller modern style bucket seats.

Yes, I have seen these - made by a couple of manufacturers - Cobra Cub and Cobra Classic cub are retro bucket type sports seats with fixed head rests - look good.

I don't think the seats on the car I saw were these - looked more like XJS or XJ40 type seats - Do you know of any other Jag seats that can be adapted?

I understand that Mazda MX5 seats can fit as the MX5 is also narrow.

I would say that XJS seats would fit, but the problem would be space and I think the XJS seat would be high.

Would you not consider the Cobra Cub?

THe issue i guess with any seat is whether they will fit on the existing runners and will they increase the height too much.

I am 6'0 and fit quite comfortably at the moment but with a higher seat I would end up lookin like Quazimodo. -

THe corbeau sportsman looks good - it may have been that seat re trimmed - wonder if they fit an E type?

Pop in and see them - no doubt they will explain how to fit them. Just a case of drilling the existing runners to match I would guess, height should be the same.

I have the same problem, I'm 6.3 and find original aged seats seats are fine, however when they are retrimmed I'm thruogh the roof, I've even got them to shave the foam off the bottom and explained that I would rather feel the seat frame in my back side than look like Noddy driving down the road.

I have sat in a E-type with seats like the some of theCobra's all be it without the harness slots in the back and I have to say the driving position and height was spot on. they also looked good.

At 6'3 how do you fit in a fixed head - are you lying down or poking your head through the webasto?

My head is just short of the headlining - of course my body may be too long! :?

I think the Cobra Replica 7 looks like a good option without the harness holes.

Other option is to fit the seats from an S1.5 or S2 which have full recliners. They are plug 'n play so no modifications necessary. I doubt any after market seats will give you an extra headroom as they will have to fit on the existing runners and may even sit higher than the originals.

You can remove the rear spacers between the slides and floor which will alter the rake and give more headroom.

I even struggle in S2's with no spacers, I need to get the trimmer to shave more off the bottom.

I might try a Cobra 7 buy 1 and see if that works.
