#1 Is this the correct screwdriver

Post by 265bhp » Sat Oct 08, 2011 10:53 pm

It's on eBay at the moment, described as for a series 1, except I thought the correct tool should have a removable blade....?, please can anyone confirm

Many thanks
Jonathan

Sorry Jonathan - can't confirm this for you. The 3.8 tool kit is listed on the Jaguar parts list as having an interchangeable screwdriver, as is the 4.2.

Were there any Phillips screws on the early 3.8s though ? There were none on the headlamp surrounds.

It strikes me as a strange claim for a screwdriver: 'only used once'. I mean, you would have to have owned it from new, checked that it worked, then kept it under lock and key for 50 years to be able to claim that wouldn't you ?

Ask the seller about its provenance.

Nick L.

Hi Nick

Agree that used only once is pushing it somewhat :? ....also that an interchangeable type is what I thought it should be

Will drop the seller a line

Thanks for your post

There were Philips/Pozidrive screws on the E-Type - headlamp surrounds, indicator fasteners, seat rails, windscreen rail (OTS), trim screws etc etc

David,

Photo's of the early cars show normal screwdriver slots in the headlamp surround screws and light cluster screws.
