#1 Heater Fan Motor

Post by andrewh » Mon Oct 24, 2011 9:31 am

I have a working heater motor but its pretty rusty looking from the outside, and its quite a difficult thing to get painted nicely, to match the rest of my heater box without getting paint in all the vents, cracks etc. Does anyone know if its possible to buy a new CORRECT style motor? I know there are motors available but they are different to the original style motor?

Andrew

SNG sell the correct style of motor (?150 with fan wheel and resistor) which is almost exactly like the original. I have a spare one on the garage shelf if you are interested. I bought it about 8 years ago and it has been fitted to the car but rarely used. It has the resistor, fan, grommets and period Smiths sticker in place but will need some 'detailing' if you are after total perfection. Recently replaced it with the Fiero motor so was going to eBay it. PM me if you are interested.

Out of interest Dave - how is the resister fixed to the motor body? My motor came without one attached so I need to affix it...

It is attached (riveted) to the motor mounting plate, not the motor itself.
