#1 Inlet Air Plenum - what colour should it be?

Post by Curtis Bay » Fri Dec 02, 2011 3:32 pm

I have recently repaired my inlet plenum box (the triangular bit that sits between the inlet trumpets and the air filter housing) and it is currently in primer awaiting a top coat of the correct colour.

My car is a May 1965 FHC and I am struggling to find what colour the plenum box should be. Is it a flat silver or a silver hammerite style finish or even something else?

On another topic, and forgive me if this is stupid question, but in some other posts I have seen the letters IIRC. What do they mean? :?:
1965 Series 1 4.2 FHC - Opalescent silver blue metallic with grey interior
1974 Series 3 5.3 Auto DHC - Sable with biscuit interior - something which has to change!

As a matter of interest the air inlet manifold between the air box and the carbs is that also hammerite or flat silver?

I've always done mind in hammer as well, but frankly I don't think it really matters
