Jacking point

I have just got a 1966 E-Type FHC which has no tools.

Reading the manual I should find a single jacking point half way along the body.

It's not obvious to me where this is. All I can see is a rail running along underneath the seat area which is slightly fatter towards the middle of the car. Is this the point where a jack should go?

Assuming I will never find an original one, what sort of 'head' should the jack have, e.g. will a conventional scissor jack with a flat head be OK?

The jacking point is about i the middle of the car between the sill and the floor pan. It is square(about 2") and the original jack will locate inside the raised edges of the square.

I would not recommend using a scissor jack unless you know it has the capacity to lift the car. I would also not recommend jacking the car at this point unless you know for sure that the body is 100%. Jack the car at the front underneath the picture frame (use a piece of hardwood between the jack and the frame to save damage to the picture frame). On the rear, jack one side at a time on the lower suspension arm. I recommend a good, low trolley jack and a decent set of axle stands.
