This is the remote linkage that connects between the internal release handle and the door lock.

On both doors they are worn to excess and are intermittent at best. Looking at them they have worn the central spindle away on one side and its very obvious that they dont wonk as they were designed to as the spindle disappears inside the bracketry under the tension of the spring where-as it is supposed to slide up and down in a slot.

Trouble is the mechanism doesnt come apart so I cant service them. SNG say they make them but they are "long term pending" and Martin Robey say they would be a special order...

Does anyone have any ideas where else I may be able to buy a pair from? Part number is BD20097 and they are not sided. I am a little reluctant to buy used ones "un-seen".

I cannot remember exactly the layout of these, but IIRC they have joints which are peened over thus making them difficult to service as you state. However, if you are stuck it sounds to me as though the way to get round the problem is to make shouldered pins to replace the original spindle joints , weld up any "out of round" in the holes the pins fit into, and then secure the new pins either with split pins , or put a thread on one end and secure them with self locking nuts

Dont forget that the new door skins have the holes for the door handle in the wrong place which throws out the linkage. So if you have either new doors or reskinned the originals, this must be taken into account.

Why do you say that, Angus? I had two new doors (Robey ) and the linkages fitted perfectly , as did the external handles

Me too -2 new RObey doors fitted by CMC and when I fitted the internal linkages it all went together fine.

In the past I have had to take the linkage apart and file the slot at the bottom to decrease the length of the linkage. Had to do this to get a nice 'clunk' when locking the door. I was told this was common due to the new skins being out. Thinking about it though, it could be that the skin was fitted slightly wrong, that would alter the position between the lock and handle.

Now this was a suprise - Norman Motors had original factory parts still in their boxes...

I now have replacement items so problem solved.

They are also sided (different part numbers) but when you put them next to each other they LOOK like they could probably go on either door so perhaps that would account for why they 'sometimes' dont fit quite right...
