#1 Handbrake Cable "spring" connected to brake hose b

Post by kingzetts » Tue Aug 28, 2012 11:03 am

As its MOT time again I'm fiddling with my handbrake.

I notice in the 3.8 parts catalogue a part number C14366 "anchor spring between handbrake cable and rear brake hose bracket on body" while the 4.2 catalgue has simply C4548 "grommet in cable support bracket at rear of body"

Unsurprisingly my car has neither a spring, nor a bracket on the rear of the body. I've never noticed anything like this in pictures of other cars- does anyone have a shot of these two setups they could share?

#2 handbrake spring

The spring helps to giude the handbrake cable away from the propshaft and is fitted with a P clip around the cable outer and small 3/16'' set screw to secure one end and is hooked through the unused LHD brake hose abutment bracket on the left side of the lower rear bulkhead.
