Chaps, I have just got my calipers back from rebuilding and plating, plus the early lock wire bolts to hold them in, and I am having problems refitting the bolts. The shank will not fit through the hole in the caliper. I have removed the plating as I wondered whether that may be restricting it, but it sill will not go through. So either my caliper company has sent me back new bolts, and they are not the correct size, or indeed they have sent me the incorrect calipers back. We are talking a few thou that they are oversize by. So I wondered whether any of you have had new bolts and found the same problem? I will ask the company tomorrow but I imagine they will say they have sent me back what I sent them. Any help much appreciated, I dont want to start altering sizes as they will work loose and knock .

in order to complete this post, I discovered that the problem with the bolts was that the plating had added just enough microns to make it jam in the hole.

That's not uncommon Andrew.

I had one plating company who apologised for over plating an item which at the time I thought was not a problem. Then I discovered that all the threads had so much plate on them that the nuts would not fit.

thanks Chris. May latest concern is that the pods seem very tight against the centre caliper body. If you study the construction the pod piston moves inwards to act on the pads and is guided by the shell of the centre caliper section. I do hope that these are not going to jam as a result of the plating, but there was no easy way to check until its all plumbed in, but suffice to say i will be very grumpy if I have to drop the IRS and take the claipes off again!!!!! fingers crossed it will be ok
