FHC rear hatch

Hi

just stripped old headlining out of my car, and note that the rear hatch should have a pvc surround, this part is available from BAS etc in black. Has anybody fitted this and have photos of the final result or what have you done instead. I have previously read its a real pain to install and any help would be appreciated

I bought the hatch trim from BAS.
Not sure how like the original it is because my original was missing. I wouldn't say it is made of PVC, more like a cross between rubber and plastic.

I didn't find it too difficult to fit, having probably read the same comments as you.

It goes on quite nicely on the gutter edge but is rather tight at the 4 hatch corners. I did not glue it around the gutter just relied on it holding itself.
The main problem was fixing it inside at the corners and I was doing it on a car with existing trim on it.
I just made a number of cuts into it so that the it would splay out and lie flat against the internal body work around the corners. I then glued it using a contact adhesive. This was made worse by having existing trim in the way.
It involves a fair bit of lying on your back in the car.

Overall I'm sure there are plenty of far worse jobs to do.

I have that strip in black (spare) if you are interested... i decided not to use it in the end

going to give it a go, the previous solution didnt impress me, so how bad can i make it? Looks like i will be lying down for some time. At least i anticipated this, i thought i would have to replace the bulkhead heater pipes when i found water in the passenger side footwell, turned out to be a loose pipe clip following the sub frame replacement
