trim to floor cross member

Hi

can anyone advise when the cross member trim (beneath seat) changed from vinyl to carpet. My car is a 1964 3.8 fhc. Also does vinyl or carpet have foam or felt under them as all the photos i have seen have sharp corners which suggests they don't

My car is a '61 but it never had any carpets on the floor when I got it, hardly had any steel either :D As far as I know they were all carpeted around the crossmember area, mine is now.

As for the carpet underside it has nothing on the back, no foam or under felt.

i have new carpets inc these items, doubt entered my mind when i viewed a couple of websites with trim restorations, now going for carpet without felt. Unfortunatly my wife has just fallen and broken her upper arm at the shoulder, so dont know when i will get in the garage in the near future, just when i was getting to grips for the new season

Mine is a March 63 FHC and it has black vinyl on the beam, no felt or foam underneath

I *think*.... that carpet was first placed on the 4.2 but I am not certain. Still no felt or foam though.
