Hi i am also about to embark on a retrim. My FHC has a webasco roof. Can anyone send photos of theirs my car does not have the normal flar centre panel with side curtains located by the rubber tube, but a single section held by the sun roof and the cant rails.

Any help appreciated

Hi Robin,

I have a Series 3 so my roof may differ from yours. However, Peter Harvey is the acknowledged expert on Webasto Sunroofs, he is not on the web as far as I can see, but I think these details are correct for him (Found on the net - he was hard to track down when I used him too!):

Peter Harvey Sunroofs
I install and repair Webasto coachbuilt folding sunroofs and repair most other makes of folding sunroof

1 Stonar Gardens, Sandwich, Kent, , CT13 9LJ, ENGLAND.
Telephone: 01304 614412.
Email: peterharveysunroofs@tiscali.co.uk

He did my roof, even travelling 60 miles to fit it as my car was not mobile at the time and I was due to leave the UK only days later. However, I made it as easy for him as possible for him, removed the roof and sent it to him in the post, he returned with the assembly and fitted it, the headlining and re-covered the sun visors. It was one of the only jobs I was not prepared to tackle myself. He was a true gent and did a marvellous job, fitting the final assembly in less than a day. He may be able to do your work at his home and send it back ? he is worth a call as what he doesn?t know about Webasto roofs isn?t worth knowing. He would, I?m sure supply enough matching material to complete the headlining too. I seem to remember he had an E-type too, but that may be incorrect now.

Another option appears to be R & S Coachbuilts:

http://www.tudorwebastosunroofs.com/index.html

Their site shows at least 2 E-types, but I can?t speak for how good/bad they are as I have no experience of them. They do at least have a website showing prices.

Regards,

Simon

Hi Simon

thanks for the contacts, i will be contacting them as the sun roof doesnt slise as well as other Webasco roofs i have had.

my main concern is the appearance and fitting of the roof lining, on a non sun roof carthe main headlining is affixed to foam and then the roof with a section between this and the cant rails. On my car the headlining is in one piece from the sun roof appeture to the cant rail. Is this correct or should it still be as the standard car, i can see why it may have been changed as the foam strip to the side of the sunroof will be circa 50mm. I would appreciate some photos of this area if someone has any

merry Christmas to everyone and happy motoring next year

Robin

As a matter of interest, how can you tell a spammer from someone with an odd sense of humour? With over 20 posts to his name and just that Merry Christmas thing to go on, how can you go from legit to being banned in one post? Not querying the decision so much as enquiring about the intel...

Hi Pete,

It wasn't Robin who was the spammer, but another poster who had barged in with just two posts, one on this thread one on another. He didn't last long before David (presumably) nuked his posts! You probably never saw them which is a measure of the efficiency of the administrators of this forum, to them my thanks for an excellent job all around.

Simon

Yes indeed, not directed at Robin. I deleted the spam post as soon as Christopher pointed it out (he was trying to flog sunroof's) and deleted the spammer's membership. If they get persistent I start playing games with them by changing their password and email address so they have to contact me to log back on. I then ban their IP address. They invariably give up and leave us alone.
