#1 Questions about fixings - 1962 FHC 860403

Post by richard btype » Sat Jun 01, 2013 8:38 pm

My search is for a supplier of the original style (inside) serrated locking washers, flat washers and nyloc nuts. Those fitted to my car show quite a lot of rust pitting on the nuts so they will look naff after plating plus the nyloc part is now presumably not going to give the locking strength they should. Further - I anticipate that new stock will be supplied in bright zinc finish and I wish to replate the new ones in a cad finish - is there anything in the plating procedure that would discolour or cause the nyloc a problem? The serrated washers are now flattened and weak and the flat washers also badly rust pitted. Q. Were the serrated washers fitted new in black or cad finish? Also with the bolts which mostly seem to be black? Is there a supplier who can supply the correct thread and correct length? All the above refer to those installed on the engine frame and around the cross members and suspension. Finally the castellated nuts were these cad or black plated

My question therefore is there a known supplier who carries this type of stock. My goal is to restore to original spec and appearance so would like to find exact new copies...
