Radio/Ipod ........new interference!

Folks,
Have a 60's Motorola converted to VHF with an Ipod lead. Last time I used it [last year!] everything worked perfectly, now there's a steady ,regular ticking coming through the speakers(no music).
Only things done over winter were:- distributor rebuilt, LED instrument illumination and voltmeter fitment.............what's changed?

The steady regular ticking is probably RF interference every time the points open on the instrument voltage regulator. I assume the only reason you're hearing it is because everything else is silent due to the amp having no input signal.

Have you dislodged the aerial and/or checked every signal source. For correct function? If all wavelengths and the iPhone jack are dud despite power being on and a correct antenna attached then assuming the volume is turned up it sounds like a tuner issue.

Folks,
maybe mislead you!.........problem only exists trying to play music from an iPhone, the iPod works fine.........strange!

I have just fitted the greatest bit of kit to another classic and negated the need for an expensive FM conversion of an old AM radio. As an aside I had a Radiomobile converted some years ago, at quite a price and to be honest, its not good. Its very difficult to obtain a clear signal and as there is no lock on as with modern digital radios you have to continually retune the set to keep the program. All in all a bit of a bore plus it only gets about 4 programs in total.

However, the new bit of kit , I cannot recall what its called right now but will report back if someone doesn't beat me to the name, comprises of a very small screen and a very small control pad. They work on Blue tooth and if you have an ipod you can play all your music and use a radio app to listen through you speakers. Frankly guys, if you hide the unit above your knee or somewhere similar its a superb solution to the perennial radio in an old car problem. I will try to photograph my installation tomorrow and post it up.

I do however want to fit an old smart 5 button Radiomobile or Motorola for aesthetics so if anyone has a spare one to sell please pm me.

Would be really interested in your experience with device you talk of. I too have tried the original radio upgrade route and been disappointed with the result so keen to hear how things turn out. Please post details?
