Rolling Road - tuning

As part of the ongoing recommissioning of 860403 (for exercising after sitting around for the past 30 years) I booked her in at the garage at Wimpole - Royston/ Cambridge.

It was a fascinating experience seeing a master at work with his cryptune machine, one could hear the engine smoothing out and becoming more regular.

The output recorded was 240 ish bhp and have no idea whether this is poor reasonable or good. I know the output is recorded as 265bhp but assume this is the rating for an engine on the dyno i.e. no drive train loss?

Correct - the factory quoted power figures are for an engine on the dyno without ancillaries (dynamo, water pump, drivetrain) and measured at the flywheel. Your rolling road would however have calculated back from the 'at the wheels' figure - they typically add 17% - 20% - and given you the nett bhp figure. They do this to avoid customer disappointment and allow easy comparisons.

Jaguar quoted 265 bhp but that was with an 'experimental' engine so the figure of ~240bhp for a standard engine is about right.
