#1 Quarter Light Window Problem

Post by eTypeG » Sat Jun 22, 2013 12:01 am

The passenger side quarter light window frame rattles/slides up and down on the B pillar even though the retaining strip and 5 screws are tight. Not sure if anything is missing?,any ideas anyone ?. :D

The rubber seal? It should be held very snug when the rear catch is locked home.

the quarterlight should not slide up and down, when the chrome strip is fixed into place properly it is in fact almost impossible to slide the Qlight without loosening the chrome strip again. This allows you to adjust where it sits in relation to the opening and the door height. I suspect that the strip is not fitting as closely as you think. Perhaps it is catching on something stopping it from going fully home? Granted the window opening rubbers will help hold the QL in place but thats not the right solution. I would take it off and have another look.

Many thanks for the reply, you are 100% correct I checked the driver's side QL and that does not slide up and down its fix tight. But both QL's look the same?, so as an experiment I placed several layers of electrical tape along the edge of the QL that is clamped by the retaining stip and refiitted it resulting in zero movement!!!. I supect the retaining strip or edge of the QL might be worn??.
