#1 A bit of help with a photo or two please

Post by andrewh » Mon Dec 09, 2013 5:41 pm

has anyone got a RHD 3.8 in partly dismantled state they could help with a couple of photos please? I cannot recall how the clutch flexi mounts to the steel pipe from the master cylinder. I recall that there is a small bracket but cannot see how that fits to the bulkhead, and there are now no holes there to fit it. Also, not sure of the route of the rear brake pipe from the master cylinder down the back of the vacuum reservoir and where it clips, also where the in line joiner fits? Would be very grateful if anyone has photos or else its a begging trip up to Harry!

thanks

Andrew

This is how it is on later cars, Andrew, not sure about the earlier ones. Perhaps not too helpful but it might jog your mind?

Bit of trivia for you - the rubber seal on the steering housing is correct for the later cars but up to #860646 and #850547 the seal was straight, not convoluted. Part #BD20589 is the straight one, part #C20488 is the convoluted one. I suppose I should take a picture and add it to the Factory Fit thread.

Here you go, on my '62. Although I restored this car I was careful to try to replicate all the original piping runs.

Brilliant Guys. Thank you all very much. So I kept all my pipes but was struggling to see how the master cylinder to rear pipe run worked out. From the last photo it appears to drop out of the brake master, the top master that is and then turn under the servo and behind the reservoir before turning towards the o/s sill then dropping down to turn under the bulkhead and run down the chassis rail. I THINK the in line coupler is somewhere along the chassis rail. I do have this pipe but could not fathom out which way it turned and was concerned it had become twisted when I removed it.

Cheers chaps

Hi All,
Can I revisit this post - would anyone be so kind as to post a picture or two of the pipe routes from the brake and clutch reservoirs to the master cylinders, and then the route down to the rear brakes? Specifically for a 3.8 62 RHD. The originality thread seems to only have LHD photos.

Clive, your car's a 62 as well but the photos appear to have been deleted from photobucket...

Thanks!
I-Wen

Thanks for the photo of the pipes from the reservoirs Neil.

I do need a photo of the pipes going into and out from the master cylinders, and in particular the pipe leading to the rear brakes from the rear master...

Any photos would be much appreciated guys.
Best regards,
I-Wen

I wonder if Paul Brown can help you, he has a partially dismantled 3.8 FHC RHD that we were going to take pictures of for our rebuild, given that the pedal box area has never been apart.

Or have a word with John Darvill "V12 Epyte" who can get you in touch with Paul

Funnily enough I popped in to see Paul earlier and took some impromptu shots of his FHC around the pedal box area. Photos were taken on an iPhone but hopefully these will be of use:
