#1 Jack colour

Hi I want to repaint my jack in its original colour .The jack is a metallifacture with the attached handle, its a blue grey colour is there a paint that's a good match.

I suggest you start by examining the BS 381c colour charts as this was the range of standard paints used throughout industry from the 1930's onwards. http://www.technicalpaintservices.co.uk/381.php

Then a matter of finding the correct colour which usually involves buying some samples and trying them as PC screen colours vary. I did this with Girling shock absorber blue BS633 (RAF Blue Grey) and the Grey-green radiator support straps, stone guard and other bits - BS694 (Dove Grey). I was told to use Rustoleum 'Winter Grey' on the Shelley jack and it seems a good match but I reckon there will be a BS381 equivalent - maybe BS676 (Light Weatherwork Grey). Let us know what you come up with.

I have found a company on e bay ukautospares that sell some of Bs 381 paints in aerosol or tins.Bs381 633 RAF Blue Grey or Bs381 Pru Blue look closest to me.

How did you get on finding a paint match for the jack ? Which colour was closest ?

I finally got round to finishing my jack. Used BS381-636 'Pru Blue' ... I think it's a perfect match for the original jack colour!
