I am considering refurbishing the worn interior trim of my recently purchased S1 3.8.
It's a late 3.8, from September 1964. It has therfore some S1 4.2 features such as the vinyle dashboard and centre armrest box.
I am wondering if I could fit one of these aluminium kits sold on ebay uk. I have seen previous posts on the subject but witout feedback on the possibility to successfully mount the various parts without problems (e.g. adjustment of the instruments within holes) and on the quality (aspect of the surface, finish of the edges, etc.) of the proposed items.
I must say that I am not interested to keep all of the original features such as the vinyle dashboard and consoles, I'm more interested in the nice looking of the alu pieces.
Anybody purchased an alu kit from David Manners?
Also any comment on the interior trim pieces proposed by Aldridge or is there any other good quality provider?
Cheers,
Serge

I am led to believe that there is no problem with a conversion the alloy trim is just a cover like the vinyl fitted to the dashboard centre and the gearbox tunnel is the same just trimmed and with an arm rest. No doubt others will confirm or otherwise but go for it. Far better looking than vinyl IMHO . Ha!

I had bas in South Wales make me a complete interior for my 63 Fhc and could not recommend them highly enough. The man who made my kit was called jack and was always willing to advise when it came to fitting and would call back if he was busy during the day. Hope this helps

Thank you for the feedback and tips.
I am tempted to go ahead and will enquire further with the sellers.

So, regarding the aluminium interior trim, I decided to order only the facia panel for the time being (bargain price).
Looking in detail to the shapes of a full set (much more expensive btw) I noticed that the radio console would not fit and that I would need either tweaking or finding an early 3.8 ashtray and mounting bracket...
I will report on the quality of the panel.
