My 1967 automatic 2+2 S1 has gone through a comprehensive rebuild.
The brakes are the original Dunlops and when applied I feel the brake pedal kicking back, but otherwise braking action is normal although a bit hard.
I have taken apart the system twice but it is still the same.
Any thoughts??

George?
With the engine off, you press the pedal then start the engine and get the kick back, correct?
Then very likely a wrong assembly in the slave cylinder on the brake booster: the small pin on the first piston should be in front of the spring and not behind. Check the wsm drawings for better understanding.
Good luck and please report findings.

A warped rotor would cause that problem. Have you checked the run-out?

Hello ralphr1780
I have exactly the same issue with my E type, but I don't understand exactly where is the problem.
Can you explain it to me.
Is it in the Loocked Servo?
Thanks Nicolas

I just read the documentation for the jaguar E type V12 and actually my spring on the piston is positioned incorrectly
Thank you. Nicolas

Bonjour Nicolas,
Yes, it is the pin holding the spring inside the piston connected to the long pushrod in the slave cylinder. The pin should be in front of the spring and not behind.
Good luck and please be so kind to let us know how it goes!
Salut,
