#1 Battery earth strap

I just wanted to check where the earth strap from the -ve battery terminal is supposed to be connected to the car.

Mine is just bolted onto the LH vertical mudshield adjacent to the battery.

I don't have any electrical problems but it's not obvious how it then gets a good -ve connection to the engine and its frame.

There's a 3/8 bolt that goes into the firewall to earth the battery.

There is a large braided copper earth strap under the car that goes from one of the reaction plate mounting bolts to one of the bolts on the rear of the engine block.

On the theory that you can't have too much ground, I also ran another ground cable from the negative post on the battery to the bolt that holds the engine to the engine mount on the left side of the block. That gives me a direct connection of the battery to the block without relying on the bulkhead-reaction plate-engine connection.

Nice idea Chris.

I'm sure you could put me right on a few other things as well on my car......

Now when is there going to be a rain free day...

Perhaps PM me with your email address?
