I suggest you start by examining the BS 381c colour charts as this was the range of standard paints used throughout industry from the 1930's onwards. http://www.technicalpaintservices.co.uk/381.php

Then a matter of finding the correct colour which usually involves buying some samples and trying them as PC screen colours vary. I did this with Girling shock absorber blue BS633 (RAF Blue Grey) and the Grey-green radiator support straps, stone guard and other bits - BS694 (Dove Grey). I was told to use Rustoleum 'Winter Grey' on the Shelley jack and it seems a good match but I reckon there will be a BS381 equivalent - maybe BS676 (Light Weatherwork Grey). Let us know what you come up with.

Hi Adam,

How did you get on finding a paint match for the jack ? Which colour was closest ?

Cheers,

I finally got round to finishing my jack. Used BS381-636 'Pru Blue' ... I think it's a perfect match for the original jack colour!

Thanks for the advice,

Adam
