This morning when travelling into Hampstead I went through the traffic lights at the very busy junction where the North Circular meets the Finchley Road and where the A1 crosses over (just before and after).
Must be one of the worst pinch points around the North Circular, however I recall two distinct memories the first was that Henleys had what I recall as being a large Jaguar dealership here along with possibly a petrol station? I visited there with my father one day in between business appointments and we looked at several Mk 2 Jaguars and I guess this must have been around 1965/66 or 67.
However when observing where the foot print might have been, the now landscaped area seems hardly large enough to have housed what I recall as being a large building/show rooms/ forecourt.
I wonder whether anyone else recollects this dealership and whether any photos might survive?
Secondly just up the road from here (maybe 200 yards towards Neasdon) Gerry Marshall had a car sales room and during the mid 70's with not a halfpenny to rub together and to kill sometime from my lunch break I could not resist walking into the showroom to look at some expensive sportscar on display.
GM seemed to be on an elevated section at the back of the showroom and when coming in he got up to have a look probably noticed the penniless young man and decided to save his breath on this non customer and just scowled! [/b]
