Crankcase breather pipe and clips
#1 Crankcase breather pipe and clips
A bit late in the day as I am about to fit it, I noticed the inside of my crankcase breather pipe is rather grotty. There is also the tiniest pinhole in the bottom but it looks too uniform to be rot, there again I cannot think there should be a pin hole in the pipe? Question is, has anyone bought a new one?45 plus vat from SNG and if so does it fit! Also, anyone know where I can purchase the correct style hose clips for the breather pipe?

The pipe is supposed to have a hole at it's lowest point to allow oil to drip out.
I don't know what size your pipe is but I used to make them out of 5/8" st.st but they are too hard to post so I don't bother anymore.
The pipe has a short rubber hose on each end held on with Jubilee clips about 1".

Can't I persuade you to make me one for my 3.8 Dave? Can't really fit a rusty one to a new engine? A nice stainless one would be just right !

I don't know about SNG parts but I bought a breather pipe from Martin Robey for my S1 4.2. It has a couple of 90 degree bends in it but they weren't quite bent enough so i had to cut off an inch or so to get the right alignment. Happily there is a bit of spare in the two rubber pipes at either end to play with.
I assume you are after part C19002, rather than mine which was C25258.
I see XKS in the USA show early 3.8s with a flexible pipe, then a metal pipe, also then two variants for S1 4.2 and S2 4.2.

If you post the pipe to me so I can use it to copy I'll send the st.st one back in the same box :D
It's an awkward shape to stick in a jiffy bag.
