#1 brake Vacuum transfer pipes in bulkhead

Hi,

I am restoring a LHD series 1 and converting to RHD.
I have one transfer pipe in the bulkhead for the vacuum link to the servo. I have seen photos where there seems to be another transfer pipe above the one I have; the holes in mine are simply blanked with rubber grommets.
I have looked in the parts manual, but that doesn't help.

Does the RHD car have two transfer pipes whilst the LHD has only one?
If so does anybody have a part number?

Thanks,

Paul

I presume you are referring to a late 4.2 version, not a 3.8 or an early 4.2 which did not have vacuum pipes inside the bulkhead.

This being so then yes on a RHD car there are two lines. One provides a source of vacuum to the servo, the other runs from the reaction valve on the nose of the master cylinder to the back of the servo and breaks the vacuum on the rear of the servo when you press the brake pedal. On LHD cars as the pedal and servo are both on the left, side that pipe/hose can run straight from reaction valve to servo without having to cross the bulkhead.

I am not sure the available S1 parts catalogue shows these in-bulkhead vacuum pipes. However reference to the "brakes-reservac" pages of the S2 parts catalogue in the forum knowledge base will reveal (for RHD) "C22612 vacuum pipe behind top dash panel" and "C25308 pipe, lower, behind dash panel". I'm guessing these would be the same as the late S1 parts. Only C25308 is listed as being needed for LHD cars.

Thanks John,

That's exactly what I need to know.
I have just done a quick search and it doesn't appear to be available, but I shall do some ringing around on Monday.

Thanks again,

Paul

On my S1.5 I made up a pipe out of 3/8" copper pipe and ran it along the firewall behind the block.
