#1 Speakers for 4.2 Centre Console

Post by andrewh » Mon May 08, 2017 5:15 pm

I know its been spoken about before on here, but has anyone a recommendation for a set of Speakers for the housing on a 4.2 series One which will fit straight in? I can see me buying and sending back several sets if I am not careful. I have 6 to 6.25 inch diagonally between studs. Have to be mindful of the magnets protruding back too far and hitting the gearbox cover.

Depends which radio you have. If it is standard width you will struggle to find any as all modern ones are quite deep with big magnets. If you have the latest Retrosound unit which is very narrow you may find something to fit by trial and error, unless someone here has already done the research. Best bet is to fit 4" speakers in the footwells and a couple of tweeters on the dash top like Angus has done. Essential to buy some acoustic wadding to put behind the footwells speakers but the results are outstanding on Angus's car. Details in the Upgrades Forum.

thanks David. I am fitting the RetroSound unit and as you say it is very small. I don't want to go away from the centre console speakers so really just hoping someone on here has a model that will do the job well.

The links may not work, but it may give you the reference for a speaker that'll fit

thank you Chaps. Just what was required. I will do some research on these Pioneer speakers but they look promising. And thank you David for keeping the links working! :wrench:
