#1 ignition light flickers

Series 1.5 4.2ltr 1968: ignition light flickers on periodically, alternator is charging the battery normally even when ignition light is flickering.
I would be grateful to hear if anyone has experienced similar and knows what is the cause?

This is very common indeed, and I really don't think anyone has definitively identified the cause. It can often be improved by cleaning all contacts in the charging circuit, particularly those to earth. In any event , it never seems to cause any problem , but is merely annoying

I will go through all the contacts on the charging circuit as suggested.
