Hi,
I am preparing the interior for priming and have spotted three small squares of metal spot welded to the floor area just above the IRS area. There are three of them one each side and one right in the middle. These are photos of the middle one:
And a closer view:
What I would like to know is, should there be a gap between the rearward upturn adjacent to the upright or should it be sitting flush? I ask as it is half bent upwards and it looks like it could be designed to have a gap and locate something??
Info, as ever, much appreciated.
Cheers.

My car has them but I've no idea what they're for. Maybe some form of production aid. There's nothing to locate there and they will eventually be covered by a strip of vinyl when you come to do the trimming.

Thanks Clive. That's what I suspected.
Cheers.

They also exist on OTS tubs where they sit inside the boot against the rear bulkhead so my guess is that they are fitted to locate the rear bulkhead when it is being spotwelded in and the IRS tunnel must be a standard part for both FHC's and OTS's.
