Well, I did it again...and I must say thanks to this great forum and the valuable support extended by all.
10 years after finishing the S2, it was itching so bad that I could not resist to take up a new project to occupy the coming winter evenings:

S1 '62 OTS
Nickname: Black Pearl
All bodywork has been done, and the paint looks great.
Now will have to put all back in.
A bit hesitant still on the interior colour, originally black, most likely will go to red.
Will definitely be requiring the assistance of the experts around, as so many questions will be arising.
I have already the first two:
1. Wiring looms: car came with an alternator instead of dynamo, the loom is in terrible state hence needing replacement. Should I opt straight forward for the 4.2 looms and simply fit the corresponding voltage regulator? Or take still the 3.8 looms and adapt?
2. Front brakes: new callipers are fitted, keep or replace with S2's?

Thanks!

Well done Ralph - I know it was a long haul and a very interesting journey that would have defeated many. As regards your questions I would strongly urge you put the car back to original specification and not mix 'n match early/late parts. Once finished you can drive and enjoy it allowing you to make considered choices on what 'upgrades' you feel are necessary. Add those at your leisure whilst removing and storing the period correct parts for any future owner who may have different ideas. So order a 3.8 loom and adapt it (easy) for an alternator. As for the brakes do you mean new after-market callipers have been fitted or original Dunlop's? I have S2 callipers on my FHC and they work superbly (the restored Dunlop's are in storage). Suggest you start a new thread in the 'Restoration Stories' forum so we can all follow your adventure.

Loom; talk to Autosparks. Cheaper to buy through Barratts.

Interior; red.

I'd stick with the standard brakes and see how you like them before changing. Use Greenstuff pads.

Thanks David, indeed a long haul, will follow your advice and will open also a thread in the "restoration stories".

Angus, "interesting" is the least we can say...will share more details when we meet next. Might also be checking with you soon for some spares needed.

Thanks Andrew, a good tip noted!
