Rear transmission S1 3.8OTS

I have just reassembled the rear transmission unit after a complete strip down. The only modification I have made is to use GAZ shocks. The old coils (springs) have been replaced with newer springs from Barratts. With the transmission still on its back (so to speak) when I rotate the half shafts the UJs on the final drive side knock against themselves. Also there is little or no tolerance against the coils. Is this solely due to the angle of the half shafts being at their extreme due to no weight bearing down on the coils/shocks or have I missed something?

I used Gaz shocks with the original springs and didn't have that problem. I would check the extended length of the Gaz shocks, including any spacers, against the originals.
