#1 'L' shaped screwdriver

I have been corresponding with Maikel
http://etypetools.co.uk/ over various subjects including the tool kit. I have always been perplexed by the inclusion of an 'L' shaped screwdriver in many tool-rolls and I assumed they were either owner additions or put in there by the Factory to fill a gap left by the redundant brake adjuster Allen key. Maikel mentioned that he thought it was nothing to do with the E-Type and was part #C10154 for the battery terminals on XK cars. His comment made me think back to the hassle I had fitting the battery in my FHC (I am convinced they built the car around the battery :D ) because the right hand helmet connector is held in place by a slotted screw and the heater box restricts access. Only way I could secure it was using a (modern) L shaped screwdriver - never occurred to me to use the one in my tool-roll
So was #C10154 added to the toolkit to allay customer concerns about battery removal?
Thoughts anyone?

If you opt for inboard terminals as Jag did you are duty-bound to offer a fastening tool if you also use cap terminals. Even clamp-type are iffy under there and I don't recall them emphasising STRONGLY that the live terminal must be attached before the ground one to avoid expensive/dangerous/painful fireworks from accidental tool-to-body or heater contact. I always get nervous dropping a battery into a 6-cyl E-type with inboard terminals. I get nervous offering the rectangular clamp up, even with rubber bits, as these drop away easily and it only takes a very few millimetres of poor positioning to bridge both thermal posts - yikes!

Indeed, Peter . On mine I have decided B*&^ger authenticity and use batteries with outboard terminals . Even then I have to pull the heater upwards to get modern batteries into place

Christopher, on my car, with inboard terminals and a standard modern battery, no need to pull the heater upwards.
Once the terminals and the strap are off the battery can be easily tilted and pulled for removal.
